Criminals have been building fake sites that are identical to the FIFA website. Between January and May of this year, over 13,000 new FIFA World Cup themed domains were registered. At least 1,000 of those have been identified as malicious or suspicious through pattern analysis and scam activity. Fortinet has reported enormous incidence of threats, including phishing and fake ticketing websites, resale ticket scams, fake merchandise storefronts, social media impersonation accounts, and many others.
