Legal Support for Victims of Elder Abuse

Elder Protection Project (EPP)

Elder Abuse Technology Project (EATP)

Older adults face a high rate of abuse.

1 in 10 older adults experience abuse.

$36.5 billion is lost each year by senior victims of financial abuse.

1 in 3 nursing home staff admitted to emotionally abusing residents.

People with limited mobility or conditions like Alzheimer’s often encounter physical or emotional abuse from family members or care facilities staff. Plus, scammers and relatives steal millions each year from disadvantaged seniors.

It can be intimidating for seniors to report abuse—and it can be even worse if they don’t have the financial means to pursue some sort of relief.

Elder abuse victims deserve justice.

We are here to be the voice of seniors who have been harmed physically, emotionally, or financially. Our experienced elder law attorneys approach each case empathetically, with the goal of keeping seniors safe.

Legal Services for Victims of Elder Abuse

EPP is a one-on-one legal services program for seniors who have been abused, whether physically, emotionally, or financially.

1

Understand the problem.

We begin by listening to the client and learning about the abuse they’re facing.

2

Provide Legal Advice.

Next, our elder law attorney walks the client through their rights and options for resolving the issue.

3

Advocate For Justice.

A restraining order can resolve many cases. However, we have resources to advocate for justice on behalf of clients needing a more complicated civil case to solve their issue, too.

Restraining Order Clinic

We run a restraining order clinic in the El Centro courthouse that makes it easier for seniors to protect themselves.

Seniors in Imperial County can visit one of our clinic on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings for help filing a restraining order. We are developing kiosks that will provide step-by-step guidance through the process. Plus, there is an elder law attorney available to answer questions.

If you need help and are unable to get to a clinic, please get in touch, and we will ensure that you get the support you need.
